This project of creating a library app for libraries NI was a great project for development on my end due to not having much experience on figma this brought a lot of new software experience and Figma experience from making tutorials in class and getting help from other this has really improved my skills as a designer. also some skills i have learned was to make components and scroll parents and to figure out how to make prototypes with the correct measurements for the prototype to work.
The little book loft was a very fun and childlike brand to create which this was a lot of fun to make and go through the design process as not many projects have this much research to study on and this one had a lot of material to bounce of. with my own idea being aimed towards children this gave me some freedom to create a fun and not so serious to design. personally i love creating a more visual looking design rather than a wordy design as i feel i apreciate more art accents into a project than the words.
this project has brought me a lot of experience with using Figma and other software types but through this i have had a lot of issue on my mock up skills which i need to improve on due to a Photoshop technical issue on my end. the solution for this was to use AI which i personally don’t like using but this was a needed use due to my software not working as well as it should.
also i have had issues with my own typography as in week 7 one of the critiques i got was to not use Figma based handwriting but to make my own which i completed in Caligrapher but again my computer wasn’t compatible with the font that i created and Figma would not let me download this into Figma to make my assets like app, landing page and especially my brand guidelines this was very frustrating as i wanted to make my own font for uniqueness but the font i have originally picked had to be used instead.
this is what the font would have looked like.

what worked well in the project was my colour scheme and logo i first wanted my logo to be childlike and playful which i have achieved using fonts and icons which this then flowed into the colour scheme at first this looked like a leaf shape to me so i associated green with this form the start of the logo and with libraries in general. also the imagery for this was fun and playful which i loved as well.
in conclusion this project was fun to make even though i had some technical issues i did enjoy creating this brand and completing all assets. also if i was to create this brand again i would have made more elements to this brand for example for children this is the little book loft, for teens would be the study loft, for adults would be the reading loft ect. that would have been more interesting to have 3 other stems but with the time span i could not achieve all 4 of what i wanted to create sue to time management.
