visualising data

illustrative vs diagrammatic

illustrative is the process of using more imagery throughout the data itself but with diagrammatic this is where this focuses on structure and logic with this illustrative can be icons or pictograms. the diagrammatic images for data visualisation conclude with this needs to have purpose or show purpose within a project and purpose in the data itself. these can be combined into a illustrative diagram as well with the components being melded together.

diagrams are a good way to visualise data for example the use of many diagrams can show the user what the data is and how this is organised.

visualisations in everyday life;

come examples of these are;

all of these are daily visualisations which show information towards the public in their own organised way with using some illustrative ways and some just plain diagrams.

the example i have chosen to study is his take on plot lines in novels and how he decided to display the data through this i feel this is very complex and not as simple to understand only form the colours but with this is very impressive and complex to create.also the question ‘what makes a prize winning novel’ is a very interesting approach to this and i like how complex yet interesting use of line and pie charts.
